Step 1: Account registration

The Baking Notification Project facilitates communication between bakers and subscribers using automated text messaging. Baking notifications come from a unique 10-digit phone number assigned to each baker during account creation. To comply with federal regulation and U.S. mobile carrier policies, we are required to collect the following information and register each sender and phone number with the Campaign Registry.

If you have an established baking business, the following information is required, otherwise skip.

Step 2: Project information

Baker/Shop Name You can use your full name or a business name, if applicable. Handle This will be part of your public-facing URL, i.e. thebakingnotificationproject.com/[username].

Profile Picture

This is the image that we’ll use for your profile card on the BNP homepage and for promotional materials.

Instagram Link (optional) If you would like to help potential subscribers find your Instagram account, add your link here. Start Date This is when your two-week Gather period will start. You can choose 'ASAP' and we'll get you up and running right away. Or you can give us a specific start date, which is a good idea if you'd like to avoid starting around a holiday or other personal event.

Dietary Considerations If you would like your baker card to note that you will exclusively offer baked goods that meet a specific dietary consideration, like vegan or gluten-free, please let us know here.

Step 3: Project Location

City State Neighborhood Let's get more specific! BNP bakers serve their neighborhoods and surrounding micro-areas. If your neighborhood or subdivision has a recognizable name, we recommend using it so that potential subscribers can get an idea of their proximity to you. Area Code Preference Your baking notifications will come from a mobile number assigned to you when your account is created. We will try to register a mobile number with your 3-digit area code preference, but we can’t guarantee specific area codes. You are welcome to list multiple preferences.

Step 4: Your Subscription

Charge for Subscriptions

We have two options: You can charge $10/month for subscription to your baking notifications, or you can offer your notifications for free. If you decide to charge, you'll need to set up a Square account. Square is our payment processor, and we hook it up directly to your account so that all subscription revenue goes directly to you.

Subscriber Limit The default subscriber limit is 25. Once the limit is reached, your subscription form will automatically go into “waitlist mode.” If you would like to initiate waitlist mode earlier, you can let us know here. If you decide to change your subscriber limit (up or down) at a future date, it’s no big deal for us to update. Contact Email If your subscribers need to reach you with a question about their subscription, i.e. billing, refunds, how would you like them to contact you? Tip Jar Link (optional) Bakers have the option of linking to a tip jar in addition to collecting monthly subscriptions. We'll link to your Venmo, Square, Paypal, etc. Share your payment link or username with us.

Step 5: Startup fee

The startup cost to create a project is a non-refundable, one-time fee of $19, which covers the cost of identity verification and account registration with the Campaign Registry. Once a project is fully activated, the cost is $27 per month plus local sales tax, where applicable.
